Ten alternatives for the supermom who wants to be just "mom":
1. Recognize that few of us can have it all. Every choice means saying no to something else.
2. Write time on your calendar for yourself. If you must, start with fifteen minutes, then build up to an hour, an afternoon, a day, etc.
3. Speak up. Many times spouses and children assume that you have no complaints about the inequitable workload or you would have said something.
4. Adjust your standards of excellence. Don't encourage your family to let you do it all because their efforts won't measure up to your standards.
5. Bow out of unnecessary community work. If the committee falls apart without you, perhaps it should.
6. Remember the adage: "This too shall pass." Children grow up, jobs change, priorities change, desires change.
7. Give new meaning to the phrase window of opportunity. When a door closes, look for a window. Don't look at the time spent driving the kids to school as down time. Look at it as an opportunity to encourage your children, to discuss their plans for the day, your plans, your hope and theirs.
8. Keep life in perspective. In sorting your priorities, visualize your epitaph. It's unlikely you would choose: "She kept a clean house." "He sacrificed himself for his job."
9. Take steps to develop yourself as a whole person. Whether superhuman or not, take steps to ensure that you are healthy physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
10. Strive to be good to yourself as well as to others. Allow yourself and others to make mistakes and to learn from them.

Gobble Gobble

What's the best thing about Thanksgiving? No, it's not that buterball Turkey or that button popping apple pie. It's BLACK FRIDAY! The greatest shopping day ever created for all mankind! If your like me, I can't wait till Thanksgiving to get a copy of the newspaper to scope out the unreal deals. So, this year I googled Black Friday ads and whata know? I found scanned copies of ads for KB, Toys R Us, Walmart, Kmart, and many many more of my favorite shopping stores. Here it is, check it out for yourself!

Time Management

According to supermoms everywhere, fine-tuning your organizational skills is key to balancing your career and your family with as little stress as possible by mastering the art of TIME MANAGEMENT.
A supermom is always super busy, so you shouldn't rely solely on your memory to keep track of all the things you're expected to do, or all the places you are expected to be at any given time.
To avoid scheduling conflicts, you should set aside a few hours a week to plan your weekly or monthly schedule. Once you have your schedule in front of you, you can revise extracurricular commitments that may conflict with your job.
Momscape.com suggest that you use a calendar, an electronic day planner, or a palm device to help you keep track of important meetings at work, upcoming school functions and any personal outings you may have scheduled with friends and family. Your schedule should be posted in the family room or on the refrigerator so that your children will always know your whereabouts and can add their own planned events.

Quote of the day
My five year old daughter had this to say to me tonight after I slaved away in the kitchen for 2 hours 20 minutes and four seconds:
"THAT was our dinner?! "
Sheeesh, she's got some nerve!

Balancig Act
.jpg)
With three rapidly growing kids, a husband, work, household responsibilities and other things to consider, sometimes the best thing you can do is just take a breather to get your head, thoughts, the to-do list and attitude in order. I have found The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn, an excellent tool at helping me do just that, figure out the game, tap into my inate power, recharge and return to my current role of Supermom.

Getting it back together
My children are ages 5, 3, and 1. After my third child, I completely lost it! It took me a long time to get my act back together and to balance my life. Since I have no background in "homemaking" (although I idolize Martha Stewart) and I tend to burn scrambled eggs, I turned to the internet for help. I was able to find quick and easy recipes, techniques on managing time, activites for my children, and much much more! With the help of the internet, I even found time to make my childrens halloween costumes this year.
